depends on whether you are buying new or used. If you don't think you have to have everything new or the best, either way is a lot cheaper. sometimes you can get stuff fairly cheap that looks new because it has either not been used much or has had really good care taken of it. Personally I ride western but everyone has their own preference. Around here 4H clubs use good but not always new equipment because so many of the wouldn't be able to be in 4H otherwise.

I Think English, and Topline Spirit Horses, just for the record boarding fee in RL doesn't matter what riding style your horses are. Anyway, English Is More, I Think, Because There is abig variety of clothes that are required. And In western All you need is Jeans, Boots, Hat, Button-up (or down) shirt, and Chaps (not in my 4-H though) So, I TOTALY think english!

I think that english is more expensive only because that's the only style that I ride. I have ridden western a few times before, but that was before I really got interested in riding. Now I ride english. I don't show or anything, but guessing from all of the fancy clothes and etc., I think that English is more expensive.

My cousen buys both. I would say when you add all the prices up that Western is more but not by much made a few 100. Also it depens on if it is new, used, custem made and the maker.

I haven't really been through it with western, but right now I'm in the process of buying all new english tack, clothes, and supplies, and my pocket has been aching! I have to agree with those who say English is more expensive that Western.

Yes. That was MY experience. I found that in the show world that was SOMETIMES the case.

Hmmmm... Well I dont ride western so I dont know. But I do know that English is VERY expensive! And I dont know which style of riding I like better. The one thing I do like about western is that it seems like the riders get to relax more. But I love JUMPING! But I also love to BARREL RACE! -Crystal Horse Ranch

Seriously mead you're being a bit to serious about this. It's just her opinion. I ride Western and I think it's the best, but it might not be true for everyone

rocking r ranch-that is very offending.no offense, but saying western is still the best is very offending to those who ride english, which i ride. i think western because the saddles are very heavy and detailed.

I think that Western tack is more expensive, but with all costs considered English is probably more considered. I don't agree at all with what you said SHS. I ride English and it's not "all about the color ribbon you get and who has the most expencive tack and horse". I ride simply because I love it, I don't even show. And yes, I also have special bonds with the horses that I ride..

They are both VERY expencive. I personally like western riding better because you have more of a special bond with your horse. English is all about the color ribbon you get and who has the most expencive tack and horse. I have been there and done that. Some english people are VERY nice but my trainer yelled at me if I didn't get a blue ribbon in every class. Some western classes are pretty but most of the time the horses and riders look a little sloppy. I like to watch english show-jumping and it is soooo much fun to soar over fences as if we had wings!!!!! I like the way english tack and clothing look. Western is a bit to "bling-bling" for me! I mean no offence what so ever to anyone. Thank you!!!! ~Sky High Stables~
